1950 The NAACP's Spingarn Medal was given to Charles R. Drew. Charles R. Drew was a black hematologist who discovered the method of preserving blood plasma for emergencies.
1951 On December 25, a Florida NAACP leader Harry T. Moore died in Mims, Florida. He died from a bombing that was planted.

1954 On May 17, the Case of Brown v. Board of Education was opened, and the NAACP was ready to be part of the case. The NAACP's legal team which was led by chief council Thurgood Marshall represented the plaintiff.
